e-Marginalia News Update

Did you read it yet? The newest e-Marginalia Newsletter was mailed out on September 12, 2004. It's a super edition with all of the e-Marginalia Contest winner announcements as well as a whole slew of fantastic new material. And I introduced Nana Chen, e-Margaux's snazzy new Travel Editor. The new contest finalists are a good indication of the amazing new material she'll be publishing in e-Marginalia each quarter. Nana's about to head off on a journey to parts various and widely scattered, but she's promised to keep us abreast of her wanderings with periodic blog entries, so keep your eyes peeled. For those of you in the New York metropolitan area, you'll have some exciting opportunities to view her artwork. I attended a hipper than hip Soho opening for her paintings at the Montserrat Gallery last Thursday. That exhibition runs for several weeks (check out the dates at their website), and she has some sublime photographs which will begin exhibition at another Soho institution, the Agora Gallery, with an opening on September 30th. Visit their website for details, or call 212-226-4151. The gallery is located at 415 West Broadway.

Summer's End Hurly Burly

Awash in delegates, politicos, would-be-politicos, protestors, police, security details, and media for the 2004 Republican National Convention, Manhattan was the last place we wished to be, so we eagerly opted for a North Country Labor Day.
Graham Norton EffectLabor Day Lobsterfest is a long-standing tradition at the Westport Marina: a feast of lobsters, steamers and chicken bar-b-q; three nights of great live music; costumes and boat decoration; and one humdinger of an "end of summer" party.

e-Margaux.com and e-Marginalia.com Swamped!

Notice: Server Slow
e-Margaux.com and e-Marginalia.com are currently experiencing systemic page delivery overload... Or some similar techno-babbly-problem. Basically, we are experiencing some server side congestions issues, and technicians are working around the clock to resolve them. The anticipated resolution time frame is 72-96 hours. In the mean time, page loads may be slower than usual. If you experience difficulty loading a page, please click the refresh/reload button on your browser, and this should rectify the problem.

You return from vacation brimming with news, bursting to report on your adventure. And for a couple of days or weeks, you become “the authority” on diving in Turks & Caicos, skiing in the Alps, wine tasting in Tuscany or trekking in Nepal. People ask you questions, drool over your photographs, beg you for recommendations on where to stay or eat or shop or hike… And it’s fun. Right?

e-Marginalia Emoticon Primer

Okay, okay, okay... The question has started to resurface, "How can I add emoticons to my comments?" The easy answer is that you can use the popup toolbar available from the comment interface. When you are adding a comment, look for the little blue question mark right after the word, "Comment" which is written just above the field where you type your clever thoughts. When you click on the blue question mark, a small window will pop open with the emoticons and a key to the HTML tags which are enabled for the comment application. All you have to do is click on the emoticon you want and it will add it into your comment. Of course, when you are editing the comment, you'll see the keyboard shortcut rather than the graphic. You can also add emoticons simply by typing the keyboard shortcut wherever you would like it. Here are the shortcuts:

New e-Marginalia is "Hot off the Presses"

It's a miracle. Not only is it a bright, sunshine-y day. Lake Champlain is crystal blue, and the world is lush and green from a soggy August. A breeze is blowing sailboats across the lake and an osprey is wheeling above my window. Not only is it a fabulous day outside, but the sublime has yet again touched us at the Margaux Project. A new e-Marginalia is "hot off the presses" and available for all the world to see and read! That's right, we've just launched a brand new travel story contest featuring nine amazing e-Margonauts sharing the tales and images of their adventures. Visit e-Marginalia now to take a glance or bookmark the page and return to read the stories later.

e-Marginalia Travel Story Contest Update

Labor Day is just around the corner, the proverbial end-of-summer hovering and haunting the final days of layout and preparation for the launch of our new e-Marginalia Travel Story Contest. So despite the towering task list and the somewhat soggy/gloomy weather, I'm going to throw on a pair of swim trunks and head out for a quick waterski! But after a revitalizing slalom or two, I'll be back at my desk, fine-tuning the stories and photos for you. I promise...
